How To Make Healthy Homemade Granola

Must Try

Hi lovelies. If you’re looking for a nutritious but delicious make-ahead breakfast idea and come on who isn’t then today you have come to the right place because i am sharing a super simple but incredibly
tasty healthy homemade granola that i think you guys are going to love it all comes together really simply with ingredients you probably already have on hand in your pantry and the best part is
it is totally customizable so you can switch it up depending on your taste. Now if you’ve never made homemade granola before guys it is actually so much easier than you might think and thebase for my homemade granola actually only involves four ingredients so to get started in my bowl.I have got some old-fashioned rolled oats almost all of us have these hanging out in our pantry.
if you don’t have old-fashioned rolled oats you can also use quick oats in a pinch it’s totally up to you then we’re going to go ahead and add our sweetener to this so my sweetener of
choice being canadian is maple syrup but you can really use any sort of liquid sweetener that you want some honey or even some agave would work really well totally up to you.

Next i’m going to go ahead and add some melted coconut oil to this that’s going to help everything get nice and crisp in the oven. If you don’t have coconut oil on hand you’ll want to use a
nice flavorless oil like a canola or even a vegetable oil. I wouldn’t this because i find the flavor is really really strong and that’s not what we’re going for we don’t want to be able totaste
the oil. Then i’m just going to add a nice hit of salt for me the salt is the perfect thing to offset the sweetness of the maple syrup so i always love a little
bit of salty with my sweet as you know and then i just like to toss those together and honestly guys once this is tossed you could bake this granola just as it is and enjoy it it would be
amazing but come on what would granola be without some really yummy mix-ins for my mix-ins. Today i’m using a classic combination of just some chopped almonds some pumpkin seeds and i’m going to be
adding some dried cranberries after i’ve cooked my granola but i have to say the mix-in possibilities here are absolutely endless whatever nuts seeds dried fruit.

You want to use i like to use coconut chips sometimes or even freeze-dried fruit is really good i even like to add chocolate chips although i highly recommend you wait until your granola is
cooked and then cooled completely before adding them otherwise they just make a real big mess in your pan and that’s not kind of what you’re going for so now that i’ve got my base all mixed
up. I’m gonna go ahead and add my mix-ins like i said i’m keeping things really classic i’ve got some chopped almonds as well as some raw pumpkin seeds. It’s also really a good idea to make
sure that your nuts and seeds are raw when they go into your bowl that way. They’re not going to overcook in the oven if you use say roasted nuts or seeds they have a chance of overcooking
and that’s not what you want. Now that i’ve got my nuts and my seeds folded into my base mix. It’s time to turn this out onto a nice big baking sheet and get it into a single layer so
usually you guys know that i like to line my baking sheets with parchment paper to help prevent any sticking or honestly any additional mess but i find.If you want nice crispy granola you
should actually just skip the parchment paper and cook this right on the pan. It’s going to help your granola crisp up at this point i’m just going to push this out using my spatula into a single
layer like so and if you want nice big clusters of granola i highly recommend that you pat it down to help it all sort of stick together then you can break it up and you get those nice big chunks.

I am a big fan of those and then we’re just going to get this in the oven at 325 degrees fahrenheit for between 25 and 30 minutes or until my granola is nice and golden. I always like to give
it a quick toss. While it’s cooking to make sure everything gets evenly browned and your patience will be rewarded because what you end up with is the toastiest most lovely smelling
granola. You can imagine now we just need to let this cool completely. Then we can add our dried cranberries to it and then it is ready to be enjoyed now that my granola is completely cool.
It’s time to stir in my dried fruit now the reason i don’t do this before baking is because the dried fruit because of its sugar content will burn during the cooking process so you definitely want
to add it after the fact now i’m using dried cranberries today but you could definitely do this with some raisins some dried apricots some dried cherries would be good i’ve even added dried
tropical fruit to granola before and it’s so super tasty so i’m just going to shake my cranberries in and give this all a good stir and then this is ready to be enjoyed or
